Rule #1 of Prāna Fusion is called ‘Metering.’
In this practice — and ideally in all of your life — you want be constantly gauging sensations that arise in your body.
The practical reason for this is simple: if you aren’t mindful, you will unconsciously make decisions based on these bodily sensations.
You don’t need to have a background in neuroscience for this to make sense.
If you’re in pain, you will respond to the world with more negativity and pessimism than if you are feeling pleasure. If your body is tense, you will act with less patience than if your body is relaxed. If you’re feeling hot, you will react differently than if you are feeling cold.
A constant awareness of how you feel is crucial for not taking things out on others, because you understand that it’s not them, it’s me. It’s my sensations that are guiding my perception of the world, not the other way around.
In Prāna Fusion, though, we ‘meter’ our sensations for a different purpose altogether: we ‘meter’ to discover where energy isn’t flowing in our body.
Only when we know where energy isn’t flowing will we have the conscious option to choose to get it flowing again. Does that make sense?
This means repeatedly scanning your body throughout class to pinpoint exactly where your attention is needed next.
What you do with this information is what we will cover in the next rule. See you there,

P.S. It’s not enough to intellectualize this material, so if you’re confused and want direct guidance please check out the ‘Metering’ video in the practice section below. There we’ll do a deep body scan to help you see where energy is or is not flowing in you.
